Full course description

This course provides candidates with instructional models, methods, and resources that meet the diverse learning needs of students with moderate to severe cognitive disabilities. The candidates will study a variety of evidence based practices for adapting the curriculum and materials using the principles of UDL in order to ensure that ALL students are provided access to grade level content based on the Common Core State Standards while still focusing on the individual IEP goals. Instruction in the areas of social, vocational and independent living skills will also be explored. An emphasis will be placed on strategies to promote communicative competence for students across a variety of settings.
